The Practical Training Program for Driving Instructors is organized into 11 modules and every module contains a theoretical (classroom), a practical (in-car) and an autonomous (independent) learning component:
THEORY – 26 hrs of deepening your knowledge of teaching/coaching approaches, learning theories, driving assessments, and lesson planning, as well as enhancing your understanding of ICBC’s Graduated Licensing Program (GLP), traffic safety regulations and standards and motorized vehicle operations
PRACTICUM – 55 hrs of behind-the-wheel experience in developing skills of practical teaching from basic driving techniques to advanced driving tactics such as defensive driving, driving on high-speed roads or in adverse conditions
AUTONOMOUS STUDY – 25 hrs of independent learning tailored to suit your individual learning needs.
